WHAT IS GOOD - JASON DEAN - DAY AND NIGHT

Orlando-based designer Jason Dean just sent word about his latest poster that changes from day to night! The 9-color, glow-in-the-dark screen print shows a sunny little town during the day which turns into a seedy city at night. Check out the side by side close-ups to see scenes full of crime, sex, zombies and more. (Love how The City turns into City Jail.)

"The most fun part about creating this was definitely coming up with ideas for the 'night' parts and how to integrate them without being noticed during the day," Dean told us about this poster. "Also, I learned quite a bit about the screen printing process through this print. Printing was a pretty huge undertaking, given that it's 9 colors total (including 2 different strengths of phosphorescent inks) so I worked pretty closely with my printer and learned a lot about the little details that can make a good print great."

WHAT IS GOOD - BIOLUMINESCENCE DOCUMENTARY

Natures Micro Worlds - The Deep Sea

Click to watch ---- GLOWING DEEP SEA LIFE

It was a coincidence I came across this documentary, pretty much the first creature that came up had bioluminescent properties, and then to my surprise most of the fish, organisms etc glowed in the dark too.
I had heard of lots of the creatures before through research but it was good to see video footage to match up to the fish. This gave me a better understanding of why aspects of them glow.

This can be for a number of reasons, either to attract prey, distract pray, for visibility and even to camouflage themselves. They have developed these amazing properties over thousands of years which perfectly suit the pitch black conditions of the deep. I think this could be an interesting area to concentrate on.

I would like to concentrate on glowing life on land and in the deep hopefully. The contrast of the two areas might make for something rather interesting. I am really looking forward to getting stuck into this project.

WINSTON CHURCHILL QUOTES - YCN COLABORATION

I have decdied to look up some famous quotes by the man himself just to get an idea of some of his beliefs and most famous phrases and speeches. Thios might give me a better ide of what kind of a person he is and what he stood for.  Winston Churchill was not just a great politician, he was also a great orator. Though he is now dead, his legacy lives on in the many humorous and insightful quotes he left behind. Here is a selection.
1. We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.
2. There is no such thing as a good tax.
3. Some see private enterprise as a predatory target to be shot, others as a cow to be milked, but few are those who see it as a sturdy horse pulling the wagon.
4. The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.
5. We contend that for a nation to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.
6. An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile—hoping it will eat him last.
7. The problems of victory are more agreeable than the problems of defeat, but they are no less difficult.
8. From now on, ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I shall not put.
9. A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject.
10. Nancy Astor: “Sir, if you were my husband, I would give you poison.”
Churchill: “If I were your husband I would take it.”
11. A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.
12. Once in a while you will stumble upon the truth but most of us manage to pick ourselves up and hurry along as if nothing had happened.
13. If you are going to go through hell, keep going.
14. It is a good thing for an uneducated man to read books of quotations.
15. You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.
16. If you have ten thousand regulations, you destroy all respect for the law.
17. You can always count on Americans to do the right thing—after they’ve tried everything else.
18. History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.
19. The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.
20. I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the ordeal of meeting me is another matter.
21. The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.
22. A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.
23. To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.
24. Politics is the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month and next year. And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn’t happen.
25. Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.

GLOW IN THE DARK DESIGN - WHAT IS GOOD

  • Mystic Beings Project  Joshua Lue Chee Kong
  • With the love of screen printing and illustrating, this book was created combining those two passions in a personal project. Its purpose was to express the creativity of how mankind has chosen to represent natural forces with the use of deities. In the process these deities were combined into the daily life of the cultures that are represent. He has created and designed a custom made screen printed book that tells the story of for deities each representing their own element like Sun, Wind, Water & Earth and to show how mankind represent these natural forces from their own experiences. I used Glow in the Dark inks, gold metallic inks and a custom mixed blue gray ink I made all printed on Cream Percia printmaking paper.

  • Really stands out, has a really vibrant glow.

GLOW IN THE DARK ROOMS - WHAT IS GOOD

I thought it would be interesting to see how far people have taken glow in the dark, so I have looked into glow in the dark rooms, experiences etc. It would be cool to do something on a large scale like this.

UV MOON GOLF

Todays next step in golf is apparently moon glow golf giving you the chance to play crazy golf in a black light lit room where everything glows! Looks pretty sweet need to give it a go.

UV THREAD INSTALLATION
