Lecture 11 - Fashion as Photograph

  • Commercial photography acts as an illustration of the clothing to show it in its best light, this occurs more so
  •  in the commercial industry than the art world.
  • Ghost Mannequin- this is looking the the opposite of fashion in Still-life art photography. 
  • First permanent photography- Nicephore Niepce 1826, Paris
  • Printing process allows the reproduction of magazines and adverts with photography included.

  • "Fashion Blogging" = allowing fashion for anyone and includes availability for those not fashion literate and/or aware.

Louise Dahl Wolfe  
From 1936 to 1958 Dahl-Wolfe was a staff fashion photographer at Harper’s Bazaar.
From 1958 until her retirement in 1960, Dahl-Wolfe worked as a freelance photographer for Vogue, Sports Illustrated, and other periodicals.
