STAMP IT

BRIEF

Produce a set of 4 postage stamps that effectively and creatively communicate a unique and informed response to the RSA Postage Stamp Brief. You will also be required to produce the first day cover packaging and design/propose any promotional material that you see as relevant to their release

Your response should generate interest in your subject as well as inform people about the content.
Background / Considerations

As a designer you have to become an instant expert, fan and enthusiast on any given subject. Fast and thorough research is key in order to find interesting, unique and useful information. You will need to quickly understand the breadth of your subject before focussing on specific informed content.

Your response should aim to:
  • produce an innovative response that goes beyond conventional treatments and styles
  • look at recent       examples of innovation in stamp design
  • demonstrate originality of thought and approach based on sound research
  • a new, younger and more visually aware generation of stamp users and collectors.

The success of your designs will be judged on the following criteria:
  • Design craft –           does your solution look and feel the best it can?
  • Ingenuity –                is it frugal with resources, is it surprising, and does it solve a problem?
  • Insight –                    what need, gap or opportunity have you discovered and how?
  • Communication –    is it easy to understand and does it inspire people?
  • Social benefit –        how does it help society as a whole?
