Study Task 3 - Modernist and Postmodern Design

Modernist Graphic Design

Gill Sans 1926

This is an example of modernist graphic design, the Gill Sans typeface was created by Eric Gill, it has modernist qualities, its a simple sans serif font. It was designed solely for function. It is clear and legible.

Post Modern Graphic Design

Jamie Reid 2001

Here is the work of Jamie Reid. There is allot more detail and colour used., its a "do it yourself" style which is very decorative and experimental. This style definitely shows form over function. Also taking aspects of the punk style such as the safety pins and ripped up aesthetic, outlining its rebellious underlying theme.
